Women's health has long been a central topic in medical research and health policy, with a focus on improving quality of life for women throughout life. Birth-related trauma and postnatal depression are two serious health challenges affecting thousands of women every year.
Traumatic birth experiences: a collaboration between Youwell AS and NTNU
Youwell AS has entered into a partnership agreement with NTNU to improve the treatment offering for women who experience traumatic birth. Around two thousand women in Norway develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after childbirth each year. The programme will go through an evidence-based, user-centred development process.
Preventing postnatal depression: the IMPACT project
IMPACT (Internet-based Modified Prenatal Affective Cognitive Training) is an internet-based programme developed to prevent postnatal depression in pregnant women and parents with risk factors. The programme was developed by researchers at the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with experts from the universities of Bergen and Lund, and built on the Youwell platform. The research project is part of the NEAD Centre, Mental Health Services, Capital Region of Denmark.
IMPACT combines psychoeducation and emotional cognitive training, giving participants strategies for handling stressful situations in everyday life with their coming baby.
The collaboration between Youwell AS and NTNU, along with the development of the IMPACT programme, represents important steps towards improving women's health - both in treating traumatic birth experiences and in preventing postnatal depression.
