One platform for the entire patient pathway
Youwell is a proven platform for digital treatment - built to help the healthcare sector scale treatment safely and efficiently. It gives healthcare providers the ability to author and deliver treatment programmes in one platform.
Author, deliver and analyse - in three steps

Design patient pathways without writing code
With Youwell's authoring tool (CMS), you can build your own treatment programmes, assessments, and follow-up pathways - without involving developers at all.
What can be built
Treatment programmes - such as self-help, guided treatment, coping programmes, psychoeducation, and rehabilitation programmes - as well as questionnaires, diaries, and e-learning modules, tailored to the patient group and type of service you deliver. See the different solution types under Solutions.
How it's built
Programmes are structured into modules, where each module consists of content pages you design yourself with the elements you want. Along the way, you add questionnaires, configure the pathway itself and its surrounding settings, and set up alerts, notifications, and messages sent at the right time. If you want to make the programme more engaging, gamification can be added. All work is versioned continuously and follows workflows that ensure quality before publishing - alongside diaries, exercises, sensor data, and graphs, set up exactly as the patient pathway requires.
Library
You don't need to build the digital patient pathway from scratch yourselves. The Youwell library gives you access to validated questionnaires and treatment programmes/interventions, ready to use. See more under Solutions → Library.
Run patient pathways - for clinician and patient
Once a programme is ready - whether you've built it yourselves or taken it directly from the Youwell library - the clinician can assign it to relevant patients in just a few clicks.
The patient completes the programme in their own patient app, while the clinician follows progress and communicates with the patient throughout the pathway - in two separate, tailored interfaces suited to each role.
For the clinician
Get a combined overview of all patients, and dig into individual treatments when needed. See how the patient is doing over time, communicate securely throughout the pathway, and use triage - green, amber, and red - to direct attention where it's needed most. The result is better control over your patients, capacity to follow up more of them, and a greater sense of mastery in everyday clinical work.
For the patient
A dedicated patient app, tailored to exactly the diagnosis or challenge the patient is facing. Here the intervention is completed at their own pace, with symptoms and progress logged along the way, and dialogue with the clinician when needed. The goal is greater ownership of one's own health, better understanding of one's condition, and a tool that gives the patient a sense of mastery over their own challenges.
Data that provides insight, from individual patients to populations
Running digital patient pathways generates a huge amount of data along the way - questionnaire responses, diary entries, completed exercises, activity data, and progress within the programme itself. This information creates value on several levels, from following up a single patient to research across many.
Insight into the patient pathway
See changes in the patient's health situation over time, track progress through treatment, and make informed decisions about the treatment together with the patient.
Statistics, reporting, and research
Extract aggregated data for quality improvement and reporting to management - such as how many patients improve, how many deteriorate, and dropout along the way. The same data can be used directly in research projects.
One platform, four perspectives
Youwell is built around the needs of the patient, clinician, administrator, and content author - so that everyone can do their job as well as possible. Role-based access ensures that each user sees exactly what's relevant to them.
Patient
The patient has their own app, tailored to their diagnosis or challenge. This is where the actual intervention takes place - from symptom tracking in diaries and questionnaires, to completing structured modules, exercises, and e-learning - while the patient maintains dialogue with the clinician and receives notifications and reminders along the way. Together, this gives the patient a tool to take greater ownership of, and master, their own health.
Clinician
The clinician gets a combined overview of all their patients, and can dig into each one when needed. Triage with green, amber, and red - together with flags and notifications - directs attention where it's needed most, while chat and video consultation make it easy to follow up along the way. The result is better control over patients, capacity to follow up more of them, and a greater sense of mastery in everyday work.
Administrator
The administrator manages users, access, and organisational structure, and has an overview of how the platform is operated and used. Configuration and the library make it easy to tailor the solution to your own organisation, while reporting, data export, and logs provide the basis for quality work and internal control.
Content author
The content author builds and maintains treatment programmes, questionnaires, and content elements in the library - without writing code. Versioning and review ensure the content maintains good quality over time, while workflows and gamification make it possible to design programmes that genuinely engage patients.
Class IIa medical device - in use at every health trust in Norway
The Youwell Platform is classified as a Class IIa medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745), and is used today by every health trust in Norway. This classification imposes substantially stricter requirements for documentation, risk management, and quality management than apply to ordinary software.
Among other things, this means independent audit by a Notified Body, a full quality management system in line with ISO 13485, systematic risk management in line with ISO 14971, and ongoing post-market surveillance of the product.
For healthcare organisations adopting the platform for clinical use, this provides assurance that patient safety is built into the product from the ground up - and a supplier accustomed to delivering in line with the requirements the healthcare sector actually demands.
