In 2022 , Diakonhjemmet Sykehus, in collaboration with Youwell AS, started the NOR-Flare study - distance follow-up of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, lifelong disease that requires follow-up from the specialist health service over a long period of time. When using drugs, the patients have experienced a positive change, but it is still common for the disease activity to fluctuate and a large proportion of the patients experience a worsening of the disease (flare-up or treatment failure).
The patients are therefore followed up with frequent checks, but these checks follow a standardized timetable and thus do not necessarily occur at the same time as periods of high disease activity. There is therefore a need for more personalized follow-up of patients in a safe and secure manner.
By using artificial intelligence (machine learning), the solution captures which patients need to come to a consultation for assessment of a change in treatment and which patients are well treated and do not need to come to a consultation. Patient-reported data and levels from blood samples are collected to monitor disease activity (flare-up or treatment failure) and patients are marked in the green, yellow or red zone 🚦
The #digitalhomemonitoring solution is now being tested in an RCT and the first patients got access to the solution in September 2022. It will be very exciting to follow along 🤗
