Today we mark World Autism Day 2021

Today is World Autism Day, officially called UN Autism Awareness Day. The theme for this year's celebration is "Inclusion in the workplace: challenges and opportunities in a post-pandemic world".

The day is marked to create awareness around people with autism and the daily challenges they live with. The aim is to increase the likelihood that people living with autism will get the help they need, and that the stigmatization and discrimination against them will stop. Living with autism spectrum disorders involves a number of challenges in life that others escape. For some, everyday life is characterized by social challenges, for others it means concentration or learning difficulties. For many, this means in practice that it is difficult to find a job, especially now during the corona pandemic where conditions have worsened. If we have more knowledge about autism and how to facilitate it, it will contribute to better inclusion, reduction of anxiety, restlessness and refusal, and generally better health for people with autism. Some of us have a relationship with autism every single day of the year and so far do not need a separate day to be reminded of what this is about, but for the general population it is important to mark this day and create awareness about autism spectrum disorders.
